8/31/2021 Overdose Awareness Day in Stanislaus County

August 31, 2021

International Overdose Awareness Day is August 31st of each year. This day has a multi-faceted purpose:

  1. To support those grieving the loss of a loved one to an overdose;
  2. To reduce the stigma tied to overdose;
  3. To promote recovery; and
  4. To prevent overdose.

On August 31, 2021, Melinda Pallotta on behalf of the Zack Meservey Foundation and the Stanislaus County Opioid Safety Coalition petitioned the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors to recognize the importance of this day. The Board responded by issuing a resolution proclaiming August 31, 2021 as Overdose Awareness Day in Stanislaus County.
